Obituary for James Edward Hite
James Edward Hite, 85, of Martinsburg passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Berkeley Medical Center.
James was born on March 9, 1933 in Martinsburg, WV and was the son of the late Charles Raymond Hite and Fern Butts Hite.
He was a life-long farmer in the Berkeley County area; and had retired from General Motors.
He is survived by two sons, James W. Hite and wife, Penny and C. Andy Hite and wife, Carol; four daughters, Cathy F. Knipe, M. Susan Rude and husband Barry, Mary Federline and husband Barney, Janice Davis and husband, Chip; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister, Patricia Butts; and his estranged wife, Barbara Osbourne Hite.
He was preceded in death by one daughter; Judith Hite; one great-grandson, Liam Jay Mann; two brothers, Paul S. and Raymond Mitchell Hite; one sister, Margaret A. Bridgham; one son-in-law, David Knipe; and the mother of his children, Mary Frances Hite.
Family will receive friends on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Denny Rhoe officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN, 38105.
