Obituary for Judy A. Michael (McDaniel)

Taking the hand of the angel, Judy A. Michael, 65, of Martinsburg passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the home she loved with her devoted husband by her side, under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born July 15, 1953, she was the oldest child of the late Kenneth and Gladys McDaniel. Judy attended St. Joseph School and was a 1971 graduate of Hedgesville High School. She was a long-time employee in the office of Dr. Jerry Fogle and maintained a close and lasting friendship with the doctor, his wife, Pat, and their family. She was a member of Shepherdstown Trinity Episcopal Church where she was a faithful attendee at Mass and served on the Altar Guild.

She is survived by her devoted husband Kenneth, whom she married November 24, 1982. She is also survived by sisters, Joan Neely and husband Tim, Peggy Lance and husband Michael; brothers, Michael McDaniel and wife Kathy, Doug McDaniel and wife Linda. She is also survived by step-son, Kenneth Michael, Jr. and wife Shari, grandson, Joshua Michael and wife Dawn; great-grandchildren, Addison and Clinton Michael; surviving also are special aunt and uncle, Dot and Elzie McDaniel along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Ronald McDaniel.

Judy was also blessed to have the Snyders who treated her as family. Before her untimely death in 2014, the 40-year friendship between Linda and Judy was filled with many tales of their antics. It was often said what one didn’t think of, the other did. Judy loved her roles as second mom to Mark and Annette and Linda gracefully included her in every milestone in their lives. It truly was a long and lasting love.

Kenny especially would like to recognize Judy’s special “babysitters” who visited each Thursday throughout these months. Their caring and devotion brought her such a joy. In the end, their true compassion and concern brought peace and comfort. We will be forever grateful to Bobbie, Martha, Sue, and Chris.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home with The Rev. Dr. G.T. Schramm officiating.

Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens where Judy will be forever neighbors with her loved mom and dad.
