Obituary for Lillie Gansion Ashby (Kief)

Lillie Ganison Ashby,81, of Falling Waters, passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Williamsport Retirement Village.

Born September 20, 1937 in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late Carney Kief and Cora Virginia Stanley Kief.

She was a member of the Blairton United Methodist Church.

Lillie worked at the Martinsburg Laundry, Jiffy Laundry, and at Norborne nursing home in the laundry before returning to school to earn her CNA at James Rumsey. She worked as a nursing assistant and then physical therapy assistant. She finished her work as a bakery assistant at Walmart in Martinsburg.

She will be missed by her son, Marshall L. Ashby, Jr. and wife, Elaine, of Falling Waters, and three grandchildren, Melissa Ashby of Germantown, MD, Jacob Ashby and wife, Kelli, of Hagerstown, MD, Terri Johnson and husband, Mike; two great grandchildren, Owen Ashby and Brenden Johnson; three step children, Marsha Warden, Ronnie Ashby, and Debra Snow.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Lee Ashby, Sr. a daughter, Linda Carol Kief; two step children, Charles Ashby and Gary Francis Ashby; five brothers, and eight sisters.

She will be missed by her friends at Woodbury Corners and Williamsport Retirement Villages.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday February 13, 2019 at the funeral home with Rev. William “Bill” Stanley officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
