Condolence: Speaking on behalf of my parents and my brother and sisters, we are so upset to hear of Phil's passing. As far back as I can remember, Phil has always been there for our family, just like he had for so many others. In our darkest times, it was always a given that Phil would be one of the first ones to arrive and offer his support. He was the kind of friend that felt just like family and we are SO blessed and fortunate to have had such a selfless and compassionate gentleman in our lives. He will be sorely missed....Our thoughts and prayers are with Phil's family and friends.

Condolence: Having grown up near Bedington, I have known Phil for several years and cherished his friendship. His loyalty to his community has been exemplified by unending acts of kindness and professionalism. I especially cherish him visiting my home in late September and giving me a postcard which he had acquired, written by my mother 65 years ago. She had entered a contest from the TV show “Name That Tune” on this postcard. It was in mint condition and brought tears to my eyes. He had told Diane that he couldn’t keep the postcard, and had to give it to me. Again, this was the type of person that Phil was, always thinking of others. Diane, you shared your life with a very special person, and it is hoped that the wonderful memories of your life together will help to sustain you during this trying time. To the members of the Martin and Heck family, please accept my sincere prayer for peace to help you during this difficult this time.

Condolence: I can't remember ever meeting a perfect gentleman, but Phil was so close. He was a caring individual that everyone that knew him loved him. The whole Martin family is like that. Phil was Chief when my husband, a former fire chief, passed on. Phil was a treasure in all the support and advice he gave me. He stood by everyone who needed him. Diane, you were his partner and had his back always. He will be missed by so many. We have lost a true friend, father, husband, brother and an awesome man.
