Having grown up near Bedington, I have known Phil for several years and cherished his friendship. His loyalty to his community has been exemplified by unending acts of kindness and professionalism. I especially cherish him visiting my home in late September and giving me a postcard which he had acquired, written by my mother 65 years ago. She had entered a contest from the TV show “Name That Tune” on this postcard. It was in mint condition and brought tears to my eyes. He had told Diane that he couldn’t keep the postcard, and had to give it to me. Again, this was the type of person that Phil was, always thinking of others. Diane, you shared your life with a very special person, and it is hoped that the wonderful memories of your life together will help to sustain you during this trying time. To the members of the Martin and Heck family, please accept my sincere prayer for peace to help you during this difficult this time.
