Obituary for Calvin Leon "Reds" Myers Sr.

Calvin Leon Myers, Sr., “Reds,” 86, of Kearneysville, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019, at the V.A. Medical Center.
Born January 5, 1933 in Neersville, VA, he was the son of the late Lee Calvin and Frances Leah West Myers.
Reds was a member of the St. Paul’s Baptist Church. He was employed, for more than 30 years, as a foreman for the contracting company, J.A. Laporte, Inc. putting in natural gas in D.C., was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 77 and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a hardworking husband, father and family man.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 43 years, Shirley Louise Lahman-Myers; son, Calvin L. Myers, Jr., of Kearneysville; 2 daughters: Debra Myers Prieto and Anna Myers Tomlin, both of Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Leola Myers Danner, of Brunswick, MD; 3 step-children, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dora L. Myers, and one step-son.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Pastor Clyde Eggleton officiating. Interment with graveside military honors will be in the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
