Gaylor  Offerdahl

Gaylor Offerdahl, 82, of Martinsburg, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at his home.

Born April 24, 1936, in Northwood, North Dakota, he was the son of the late Oscar Bernt Offerdahl and Lillie Smestad Offerdahl.

He is survived by his wife, Marcy Christianson Offerdahl; two daughters, Renee Szanca and husband, Mark, Launa Offerdahl-Watts and husband, Keithley; two grandchildren, Jantzen and Drake Szanca; one brother, Roger Offerdahl and wife, Joanne, sister-in-law Pam; five step brothers, Ron Rotvold, Lyle Rotvold and wife, Marlene, Darrell Rotvold and wife, Kay, Leslie Rotvold and wife, Bonnie, Roger Rotvold and wife Kathy; two sisters, Darlene Garrett and husband, Wayne, Margie Devlin and husband, Bill; and one step sister, Jan Elkins and husband, Terry.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Lyle Offerdahl and wife Kathy, and David Offerdahl.

He graduated in 1955 from Mayville High School in Mayville, North Dakota. Owner of Photography by Gaylor Studio in Grand Forks, North Dakota for 30 years. His Accomplishments in North Dakota were; worked in the Grand Forks Police Reserves from 1968-1976; Member and teacher at Sharon Lutheran church; Member of the Professional Photographers of America; Member of the Chamber of Commerce of Grand Forks; Member of the Rotary; President of North Dakota professional photographers from 1980-81; was a CPP, Certified Professional photographer with award winning state and national photos in competitions; He was an active motor cyclist for 50 years and belonged to the Gold Wing Road Riders Association.

In Martinsburg, WV he was: an instructor at the Senior Center for Adobe Photoshop for 16 years; judged photos taken by the Boys and Girls Club in Martinsburg every year at the Berkeley County Fair; Attended St. Johns Lutheran church.

Gaylor's whole life was built around his love of a camera. The magic, smiles, and memories he built around his life has touched many. He loved working with people, his family, and reminding us all to be "humble." One click, one photo, one memory to have forever. You made that happen for us.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV.

Interment will be private in North Dakota.
