Obituary for Thomas Lynn Gaither

Thomas Lynn Gaither, 65, of Kearneysville, passed away at home with his loving wife by his side on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.

Born June 5, 1953 in Martinsburg, WV, he was the son of the late Oscar William Gaither and Virginia Mae “Rusty” Sisk Gaither.

After 32 years he retired as Sergeant from the Martinsburg City Police Department and served as Commander of the Eastern Panhandle Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force. Following retirement he was employed as a Court Security Officer at the Martinsburg Federal Court House until 2017.

He was a member of the F.O.P. and a life-time member of Jefferson County Izaak Walton League Bow and Gun Club where he received numerous awards for trap shooting. He loved to RV with family and friends and was an accomplished guitarist. Tom also enjoyed ocean cruises and riding motorcycles.

He is survived by his wife Charlene Ruth Burditus Gaither; one son Philip L. Blair; two daughters Allyson Hope Gaither Miller and Devin Joann Gaither; four grandchildren Taylor, Dax, Cayden, and Louie Blue; and one brother, William C. “Red” Gaither.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia Ann Gaither.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at 4:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Rev. Warren Watts officiating. Family will receive friends from 3:00PM to 4:00PM prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral chapel. Interment will be private.
