Obituary for Clara Virginia Bloyer (VanMetre)

Clara Virginia VanMetre Bloyer, born on February 7, 1939 in Martinsburg, WV, daughter of the late Owens and Lottie Raigner VanMetre.

She passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on November 16, 2018 surrounded by family after a short but fierce battle with Dementia.

She was a loving mother and grandmother survived by four children, J. David Houck of Dalmatia, PA, Michael D. Houck of Gardners, PA, Patricia L. Redding and husband Wayne, of Biglerville, PA, and Kenneth A. Bloyer of Carlisle, PA; fourteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; a brother, James “Pete” VanMetre of Cherry Run, WV; and a sister, Wilma Clark of Hedgesville, WV.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Kenneth A. Bloyer, who passed in 2006, a brother, Roger VanMetre who passed in 2011, a sister, Shirley VanMetre, who passed in 1964, and a great grandson, Jayson Westbrook, who passed in 2017.

After retiring from Pfaltzgraff with 25 years of service, she found her true calling and for the next 10 years, she worked as a caregiver for Luthern Homecare. Her favorite past times included spending time with her family, going to yard sales, and listening to old country music.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home prior to the service.

Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the funeral home.

She will be laid to rest at Butler's Chapel Cemetery in Hedgesville, WV.
