Barbara Elaine Pierson, 69, of Ranson, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 15, 2018 while surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice. She had fought a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and Parkinson’s Disease.
Born November 2, 1949, in Charles Town, she was the daughter of the late Owen Pittman Johnston, Sr. and Emily Pauline Armstrong.
Barbara was a member of the Zion Episcopal Church.She was a member of the Charles Town High School, graduating class of 1967 and was a department manager for J C Penney's for over 30 years. She was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved taking care of her grandchildren. She loved reading, going to yard sales, watching the birds and squirrels from the kitchen window, and spending time with her yorkie, Toby. She was a friend to many.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jimmy” Norris Pierson: son, Kenneth “Kenny” Allen Brill, Jr., of Charles Town; daughter, Emily “Tessa” Montessa Bohrer, of Ranson; brother, Owen P. Johnston, Jr., and wife Lynn, of Winchester, VA; sister, Linda R. Blatzer, and husband Edward, of Martinsburg, and six grandchildren: Kari, Kane, Kenneth III, and Kameron Brill, Tavian James Pierson and Trenton James Walker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Thomas E. Owens and her brother, Kevin Milton Johnston.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Pastors Floyd “Bucky” Chapman and David Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, Sunday at the Chapel.
