Judith Darlene Sowers, “Judy,” 66, of Harpers Ferry, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the Berkeley Medical Center. Born July 24, 1952, she was the daughter of the late George Wesley Rutherford and Georgia Ann Harder Rutherford.
Judy was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was very high-spirited and full of life and loved to cook. She had worked as a cabinet inspector for American Woodmark, but many people knew her from the Goodwill, where she had worked in receiving until her retirement. Her absence will be deeply felt by all she touched.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Lee Sowers; four sons: Darrel R. Rose, Jr., of Bunker Hill, George E. Rose, Sr., and wife Angie, of Kearneysville, and Joseph and Nathan Sowers, both of Harpers Ferry; one brother, Roger R. Rutherford, and wife Nancy, of Charles Town; 15 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Bobby” Rutherford, and sister, Ginger Kisner.
A funeral service will be held 6 pm, Monday, October 29, 2018 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Pastor Floyd “Bucky” Chapman officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
