Obituary for John Anthony Travis

Print
The most unique and amazing husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend has gone to be with his Heavenly Father. John Anthony Travis, born on September 3rd, 1957, died on September 29th, 2018 at the age of 61.

John was a devoted husband to his wife of 40 years, Dottie Travis, and loving father to Sarah Lewis, Matthew Travis, and son-in-law, Tony Lewis. He left behind two beautiful granddaughters, Olivia and Ava Lewis. He is survived by his equally charismatic mother, Olga Anderson Travise and intelligent, witty, and loving siblings: Katherine Travis, Karen and Buddy Pernice, Janet and Lou Santarelli, Tina and John Latona, Tracie Travis and beloved brother, Frank Travis. His nieces and nephews, Diane and Eric Tetuan, Tony Pernice, Dustin Pernice, Nicole and Jim Shumake, Frank and Jessica Santarelli, Lynn and Jesse Buzzard, Leah Santarelli, Jason and Lindsey Meahl, Elizabeth and Walter Drissel, Giovanni Latona, and Aaron Travis, Joel and Jaimie Travis, Josh and Rachel Travis, and Nick Travis, will forever remember their Uncle John for stories that could only have come from him and that will live on forever.

John was preceded in death by his father, Frank Travise, who has been (not-so-patiently) counting down the minutes of his son’s arrival, as he always did on earth.
John Travis, aka Dad, Bumpit, and Uncle John, left his stamp on all of those who truly knew him. He brought a sense of magic to everyday life. John was a gifted technician, a fixer of everything; an entrepreneur who started a business from scratch; a collector of things, new and old; a lover of airplanes, big and small; a master pie maker; pizza crust perfectionist; and a student of YouTube.

The word anomaly describes an abnormality, a blip on the screen of life that doesn’t quite fit the pattern. John Travis was an anomaly in every sense of the word.

I will miss you, Dad. Have my cup of coffee waiting on me and remind Grandpa to have my peppers ready. May these country roads take you home.
