Barbie will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered as a wonderful and caring mother and grandmother. She was a social butterfly with a great sense of humor and a very giving personality. She loved teasing people and liked reading, drawing, and playing bingo. She was an avid farmer on Farmville and always wanted to help people and make them happy.
She is survived by four daughters: Lynn Chavez, and husband Elmer, Lacie Chapman, and husband Sergio Velazquez, and Brittany and Cassandra Fauble, all of Martinsburg; one brother, Richard Chapman, and wife Teresa, of Winchester, VA; two sisters: Alice Chapman, and husband Dewayne Penwell, of Harpers Ferry, and Rebecca Dixon, and husband Vernon, of Winchester, and five grandchildren: David Mejia and Serena, Santiago, Aiden, and Soraya, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Pauline Lay; her aunt, Sally Payne, and her uncles: Robert, William, Darrell, and Johnny Lay.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, September 15, 2018, at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Pastor Mark McDonald officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
