Renee grew up in Inwood, WV, attended and graduated from Musselman High School, where she met and married her high school sweetheart “Dougie” Hilliard, and they raised their son Jayson C. Hilliard.

Renee had a long career working as an office manager, first for Dr. Eli Roza and Dr. Paul Welchand, and previously for Dr. Babak Barmar, all Nephrologists in Martinsburg, WV. Renee loved her job and took it very seriously. She loved and prayed for all their patients.

An avid quilter, Renee belonged to several quilting groups, stitching with Mary in Charles Town, WV, and had been a member of Piecemakers Quilt Guild in Martinsburg for more than 20 years where she made many quilting friends. Her quilts were meticulously done with love and the person in mind. She loved antiquing and was a gifted interior and exterior designer of her home, and for others, and had a beautiful eye for decorating.

She was a huge Musselman and Shepherd College football fan.

Renee’s real passion was her son Jayson, granddaughter Summer Rose, her family and friends. She sought to instill in her son Jayson a zest for life, to be a kind, respectful and a loving father, husband and friend.

She often talked about and sang songs of praise of Jesus to her granddaughter Summer Rose. She was committed to her family and dear friends. Renee had power in her smile and a beautiful sense of humor.

In addition to her parents she is survived by her husband Douglas Hilliard; son Jayson C. and wife Shannon; granddaughter Summer Rose Hilliard; sister Theresa Hockman of Martinsburg; two brothers, Jimmie Richards, Jr. and wife Donna of Inwood and David Richards of Martinsburg; as well as loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of long- time friends.

She was a member of the Darksville United Methodist Church.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the chapel with Pastor Tom Sigler officiating. Interment will be held in Rosedale Cemetery.

Renee’s family is asking you to spend time daily with our heavenly father, get to know him, hug and talk to your children, take walks with your loved ones and make a toast to endearing friendships, life-long and beyond. That is what Renee would wish for you.
