He drove tractor trailers and worked as a mechanic until he took over the business in 1969, after his father passed away. He ran Mason's Transfer until selling in the late 70's, when he began to sell real estate in Pikeview Acres. Edgar also worked for Berkeley County as an assessor.

Edgar was a lifelong member of the Inwood United Methodist Church. He was a lay leader, president of the trustee's and served on many other committees. He was a member of the Junior Order of the United American Mechanics and American Fraternal Order with Foundations of Virtue, Liberty and Patriotism. He was treasurer of the Berkeley County Solid Waste Authority and worked very hard to establish recycling in Berkeley County. He was on the board of the Gateway Youth Home and worked to give Inwood a storm water management system.

Edgar was a proud resident of Inwood. He loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, August 12, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the South Berkeley Chapel of Brown Funeral Homes.
