Obituary for Doris Marie Yates (Payton)

Doris Marie Payton Yates, 79 of Summit Point passed away January 1, 2018 at her home. Born January 2, 1938 in Winchester, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Thurman Payton, Sr. and Martha Ann Simms Payton. She was a member of the Sylvannah Praise Healing and Worship Center. She worked as a fork lift driver for Double Day for over 20 years. She is survived by her husband, John Richard Yates at home, son, Timothy Yates and wife Mary Jane of Fredericksburg, Virginia, daughters, Bernice Yates of Haymarket, Virginia and Judith Simmons of Ranson, brothers, Douglas Payton and Thurman Payton, Jr., both of Franklintown, West Virginia and Stevenson Payton of Martinsburg, sister, Shirley Payton of Franklintown, West Virginia, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother James Payton. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Sylvannah Praise Healing and Worship Center with the Reverend Lawrence Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the Myerstown Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
