Ann Louise  Coulter
Ann, 73, died on September 20, 2017 of a lengthy pulmonary disease. Arrangements by Brown’s Funeral Home, Martinsburg WV.

Ann was born June 27, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA to William J. Coulter and Margaret E. Hartmann. She graduated from Swarthmore College and earned her Master’s in Human Resources from Villanova University. She was active in the civil rights and anti-Vietnam War movements.

Ann worked as an inner city social worker in Washington DC and was the director of volunteer services at Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia. In 1985, she married John Shaw and moved to Shepherdstown. From 1986 to her retirement in 2006 Ann was the Employee Relations HR Manager at Winchester Medical Center.
In retirement Ann was a volunteer for the League of Women Voters of Jefferson Co. and EPSPAN (Eastern Panhandle Single Payer Action Network), a group founded to advocate for Medicare for All.

Ann is survived by her husband, John Shaw; son Seth Shaw-Haislett; son Jacob Shaw, his wife Katie, and grandchildren Emlyn and Dustin. Her family also includes sister, Janet Coulter and partner, Betty Bowker; sister Lois Kelberman, husband Dale, and children Dina and Joshua; sister Carolyn Coulter, husband Ahmad Shraideh and daughter, Lila Grace; sister-in-law Debbie Shaw; brother-in-law Geoffrey Shaw; sister-in-law Elizabeth Shaw and daughter, Ashley; nephew Daniel Shaw, wife Monia, and children Matthew and Jasmine; niece Erin Rouse and son, Nathan; and nephew Frank Shaw. Ann was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Peter Shaw.

Memorial gifts are suggested to The League of Women Voters of Jefferson Co., P.O. Box 1393, Shepherdstown WV 25443; to EPSPAN, 62 Valley Court, Shepherdstown WV 25443 or Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville WV 25430.

Family and friends are invited to an informal tea in celebration of Ann’s life to be held on Saturday, October 7th from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the Hospice of the Panhandle Education Center at 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville.
