Condolences

Condolence From: Pam Bradford
Condolence: Pete, I grieve your passing, even though I know the trials of this life are over and you're with Mary. I will always remember years ago, - hours and hours of you playing your guitar, music like the beautiful, changing waves of the ocean; conversation unfettered from limits of language. I will never again hear anyone play like this; only from you, my friend. I will remember this, your incredible and unique talent, your kind heart and creative ferocious spirit. Pray for me, Pete; and go with God, dear friend of my heart. May your spirit continue on, even in this world, through your children. And may God bless and console your family and all those who love you.

Condolence: Many years ago I had a beautiful dream about my brother, Pete. In it, we were children again, and standing in the foyer of our childhood home. The house was pitch black and terrifying. Pete came up to me and placed a beautiful crown on my head that he had made. Although I didn't think of it at the time, it is easy to describe because it looked identical to a St. Lucy's Crown. I woke up from that dream marveling at his precious gift, and have thought often of what it means to me. When we were young, I have many fond memories of Pete. He made me laugh. He was funny. He let me play with him and his buddies when they played army or cowboys and indians (granted, I was always the nurse stationed at camp...). He treated me with affection. Each of the candles in that crown have come to represent those moments--memories that lent their light to me in a very dark place and time of my life. As a brother, I have always admired my brother's amazing integrity and tenacity in confronting and overcoming the many challenges he faced. Although we haven't seen each other for many years, I thought of him daily with love and admiration, and for the grace he brought to our family. I'll continue to wear the crown he gave me with pride and gratitude until we meet again. I can't imagine what his crown looks like now--it must be blazing with light.
