Obituary for Martha McKown Tyler

Martha "Marty" M. Wooters (Campbell) Tyler, 72, of Martinsburg, WV, died in her home on Saturday, March 8, 2014


Born September 18, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Colonel Percival Clyde Wooters and Eva Pitzer Wooters.


She was the beloved mother of Tammy Campbell D'Elia, James L. Campbell, and Steven B. Campbell (Teresa), and beloved sister of Nancy N. Vincent, Steven B. Wooters (Helen), and the late Pamela C. Alexander (Jack). She was "Grammarfie" to her granddaughters, Kirsten and Kenley Campbell, and the "second mother" of Phyllis A. Bohrer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Tyler, and former husband, James W. Campbell. She is survived by a number of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Martha was a teacher in the Berkeley County School System for 5 years, and then employed by the IRS from which she retired.

A private interment will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Gerrardstown Presbyterian Cemetery. The family will hold a celebration of Marty's life at the Arden United Methodist Church Family Life Center between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014.


In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
