At
the Brown Funeral Homes, we have taken steps to make the casket
and burial vault selection process as easy as possible. Each
of our locations has a casket selection
room, and you may choose from a variety of metal and wood caskets
on display. Each casket is marked with its price. Or, if you
prefer to
select a casket from the comfort of your own home, you may view
our full-color catalog that includes a list of options and prices.

Metal Caskets
Metal caskets are made of bronze, copper, stainless
steel or coated steel. Most metal caskets are sealed with a protective
rubber
gasket,
which will resist the entrance of moisture or other graveside
substances. The type and thickness of the metal used, the
workmanship and interior
fabric will affect the quality and the price of the casket.
Protective metal caskets are made of the following
materials:
• Solid Bronze: Bronze is a naturally non-rusting material
and is the most durable.
• Solid Copper: Copper metal, like bronze, is a naturally
non-rusting material. Copper caskets are also known for their durability.
However,
copper is a softer metal than bronze.
• Stainless Steel: Stainless steel
caskets are constructed of metal containing carbon steel and
chromium. These caskets are also resistant to rust and corrosion.
• Steel: Coated to protect against rust and corrosion,
our steel caskets are made from three different gauges of
steel - 16 gauge (heaviest), 18 gauge (average) and 20 gauge
(lightest).
We also offer non-protective 20 gauge caskets.

Wood Caskets
Caskets made of the finest hardwoods are assembled by skilled
craftsmen with the same care and attention to detail as a
piece of fine furniture. Non-protective, wood caskets are available
in a variety
of solid woods and are chosen for their warmth and beauty.
The individual grain patterns of a wooden casket make it truly
unique.
Wood is a renewable resource and many casket companies participate
in state and private tree planting programs.
Our display rooms contain a good selection of various woods
and designs including mahogany, oak, walnut, cherry and poplar, with
a
wide range of pricing. Cloth covered, pressed wood caskets
are also available.

Burial Vaults
The burial vault is an outer burial container that protects
the casket and the deceased against moisture, the weight
of the earth
and the elements in a ground burial.
In some states, burial vaults are not required by law. However
most cemeteries require the use of a vault designed to accommodate
the casket.
Vaults are constructed of copper, stainless steel, galvanized
steel, fiberglass, coated concrete, asphalt-coated concrete,
plastic-lined concrete or plain concrete.
We offer a varied selection of designs and pricing of burial vaults.
Our display rooms contain models of our selections for your review.
Photos are available for home appointments.

Cremation Merchandise
You can choose from a wide variety of urns on display at our
King Street location. The selections are made of cast bronze, sheet
bronze, ceramic, marble, cultured marble or granite. Various woods
available include oak, cherry, mahogany or poplar. Urn costs will
vary depending on material and the intricacy of the design. Keepsake
urns are available for multiple family members. We also have a catalog
for selection during a home appointment.
Monuments and Markers
A monument is the final and lasting tribute to a loved one.
It is an artistic creation, symbolic of love and remembrance.
Granite, chosen for its beauty and endurance, is available in
a variety of colors that are resistant to our ever-changing weather
conditions. The price of a granite monument is based on the type
and quality of the selected granite, size and the number of polished
surfaces.
Bronze is chosen for it's blending of traditional legacy
and the strength of artistic sculptures. The cost of a
bronze monument is based on the quality of bronze and the
design style.
We would be happy to provide you with contact information for
our community’s local monument businesses.
