Obituary for Naomi Lee Botic (Wood)

Naomi Lee Botic, age 83, passed away at her home in Martinsburg, WV on Sunday August 19, 2018. She was born on October 26, 1934 in Roanoke, VA and was the daughter of the late J. Raymond and Naomi Belle Wood.

She was raised and spent the majority of her life in Martinsburg. She graduated from Martinsburg High School, Class of 1952, and Shepherd University, Class of 1956. She also completed graduate courses at the College of William and Mary. She began her 30 year teaching career at John Street Elementary School (1956-1962). She also taught in Pittsburgh, PA (1962-1966). She completed her teaching career at Opequon Elementary School from 1969 until her retirement in 1989. She was also a member of the WV Association of Retired School Employees. She was a 74 year member of Trinity United Methodist Church (where her father was minister from 1941 until his retirement in 1969). Trinity United Methodist Church and its members were a constant source of comfort and inspiration.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, George Botic. She is survived by her son George Raymond Botic (Pamela) and grandson George Alexander Botic (Alex) of Herndon, VA. She was never happier than watching Alex grow into a young man who affectionately called her “Danny.”

Viewing will take place on Wednesday August 22, 2018 from 6pm to 8pm with funeral services on Thursday August 23, 2018 at 11am at Brown Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at Rosedale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any contributions in Naomi Lee’s name be sent to the United Methodist Committee on Relief at Advance GCFA (#999895) P.O. Box 9068 GPO, New York, NY 10087-9068.
