Obituary for Paul Simmons

Paul Simmons departed this life August 8, 2018 at age 92. He is with Jesus and has reunited with the love of his life, Dorothy, which has been his heart's desire for some time. He was a Christian and member of Crosspoint Church of God.

His career included driving for the US Highway Post Office, then a trucker for Compton, Bowman and others. He also drove tour buses for Schrock and Virginia Coach. His hobby was woodworking and his wit and humor were never ending.

During WWII he joined the Navy and sailed the Pacific on Sub Chaser 741. Paul was proud and loved to share his amazing and sometimes funny memories. He served in the Phillipines, New Guinea, and the Subic Bay. After wartime Paul and Dorothy wed and had five children.

Surviving are Donna Painter and husband Mike, Elaine Simmons, Dale Simmons and wife Mary, Susie Wilson and husband Johnny, Ronnie and wife Retha Simmons.

Five grandchildren have passed, Wade McDaniel, Wesley Jackson, Ronnie Simmons Jr., April Simmons and Rocky Simmons.

Surviving Granchildren are Jerry and Paul McDaniel, Tracy Kable, Clinton Dunlap, Stephanie Shipe, and Shane Wilson, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandson.

Viewing is at South Berkeley Chapel from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm on Friday August 10, 2018.

Services are August 11, 2018 at Crosspoint Church of God with Pastor Harold Newcome Jr. officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
