Obituary for Robert Taylor Elwood Jr.

Robert Taylor Elwood, Jr., 95, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility.

Born July 18, 1923 in Martinsburg, he was the son of the late Robert T. Elwood, Sr. and Dorothy Ann Leuhart Elwood.

He was a life-long farmer and member of the community. He owns one of the largest donated farms in West Virginia to Farmland Protection.

He is survived by his loyal friends Howard N. Cook, Jr., Sharon Marpole, Genevieve O’Loughlin, and Tammy Hendershot.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Clifford S. Elwood, Lester Mertz, John Mertz, George Mertz, and William Mertz; and four sisters, Bessie Riner, Nellie Riner, Martha Waters, and Daisy Riner.

Graveside service will be held at 2:30PM on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 with Rev. Dr. Edward Grove officiating at Rosedale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
