Obituary for Daniel Eugene Lee "Gene" Wilt

Daniel Eugene Lee Wilt, “Gene,” 85, of Martinsburg, formerly of Charles Town, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at the Berkeley Medical Center. Born January 8, 1933, in Jefferson County, he was the son of the late Charles Humphrey Wilt and Annie Elizabeth Ott Wilt.
Daniel was of the Methodist faith. He graduated from Charles Town High School in 1950 and then served with the Army in Germany. He retired from the Fairfax County School Board after 22 years as a supply clerk. He was an avid fan of the Redskins and NASCAR and was a member of the Charles Town V.F.W.
He is survived by his 2 sons: Carlton Wilt, and spouse Tony Stephens, of Luray, Virginia, and Lee Rollison, and wife Joan, of Chestnut Hill, Harpers Ferry; daughter, Cindy Turner, and husband Richard, of Martinsburg; brother, Garnett Wilt, of Newark, New Jersey; 3 sisters, Arbutus Wilt, Antoinette Lochbaum Wilt, both of Shepherdstown, and Rosebud McDaniel, of Bakerton; sister-in-law, Isabelle Wilt, of Charles Town; 5 grandchildren: Thea Grimaldo, and husband Carlos, of Canton, Georgia, Candy Ramirez, and husband David, of Martinsburg, Trevor Rollison, and wife Shaney, of Orange, Virginia, Bridgett LaFountain, and husband Mark, of New Haven, Connecticut, and Kayle Stephens, of Luray, Virginia; 10 great grandchildren: Rosa, Nikolis, Liliana, Lorenzo, Fernando, Gabriela, Jack, Faith, Taylor, and Jake, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Virginia Deener Wilt; brother, Paul Wilt, and 2 sisters, Ida Mae LaRue and Estelle Kisner.
A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with Pastor Lynn Wilson officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm, Sunday, July 1, 2018 at the Chapel.
