Nelson Louis  Southard Sr.
Nelson Louis Southard, Sr, of Martinsburg, WV passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Grenich Care Home in Bunker Hill after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born June 8, 1940, in Charles Town, WV he was the son of the late Mida B. Corso. He was a member of the Martinsburg Church of Christ and Vanville Church of Christ for many years.
He was a graduate of Shepherdstown High School class of 1959. He also attended Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a founding member of the New Covenant Singers.
He worked many years at Schmidts Bakery in Martinsburg and Crown Cork & Seal in Winchester.
He was married to the late Joyce May Walker Southard and is survived by one son, Nelson L. Southard, Jr., of Martinsburg, WV; four daughters, Robin (Ken) Larsen of Bellevue, NE, Kelley M. Southard of Martinsburg, WV, Julie (Jason) Ebersole of Clear Spring, MD, and Amy (Ed) Stely of Martinsburg, WV; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Dennis Corso and Bobby Corso; three sisters, Rose Garrott, Nancy Baker, and Kathy Virts.
Family will receive friends on Monday, June 4, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Home.
Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Chuck Donivan officiating. Interment will be held in Rosedale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation www.michaeljfox.org.
