Robert P.  Usak Jr.
Robert P. Usak, Jr., 85, of Martinsburg, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018, at home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle, surrounded by his family.

Born December 7, 1932, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert P. Usak, Sr., and Edith Grace Johnson Usak.

He is survived by his wife of almost 61 years, Viola M. Gregory Usak; three daughters Robin L. Usak Sanders and husband Kenneth of Rocky Mount, NC, Linda K. Usak Shine and husband Mike of Downingtown, PA, and Sandra L. Usak Ryan and husband Tom of Bunker Hill, WV; one son; Robert P. Usak III, of Martinsburg, WV; seven grandchildren, Donald L. Grubb, III., Anthony B. Corbin, Jr., Steven M. Corbin, John M. Shine, and Mackenzie P. Shine; two great granddaughters, Emma and Isabella Georg Corbin,; five step grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren; three sisters, Pauline Usak Hess of Martinsburg, WV, Margaret “Peggy” Usak of Napa California, Patricia “Patty” Usak of Napa California; and one brother, Donald S. Usak of Roanoke, VA.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kathleen F. Shine, and two sisters, Kathleen Usak Silver and Francis Usak Miller.

He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and Hagerstown Junior College. He was a gifted athlete playing basketball, baseball and excelled in all sports. He was an avid golfer and hunter.

He served in the US Army in the Artillery and Guided Missiles Program in 1955. He received the Army Infantry Marksmanship Expert Medal, the highest honor for shooting expert.

He retired from IBEW local number 307 where he worked as an electrician/Project Manager.

He maintained his sense of humor throughout his illness and had his Jack Russell terrier, Remus, always by his side.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home.

A burial of Christian Mass will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Thomas Gallager Celebrant. Interment will be held in Rosedale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
