William Arthur Benner, 86, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday,
May 30, 2018 at his residence under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

William was born February 9, 1932 in Martinsburg, WV and was the son of the late Bernard A. Sr. and Sarah McKee Benner.

William was a graduate of Martinsburg High School class of 1951. He was a US Army Veteran who served in the Korean conflict from 1952-1954. He retired from Corning Glass as a kiln operator after 38 years of service. He was a member of Bedington United Methodist Church for 60 years.

He enjoyed sports, especially softball playing on local teams and was a member of Corning Championship Softball Team.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Lee Gregory Benner; two brothers Cletus E. Benner and wife Patricia and Stuart M. Benner, Sr. and wife Peggy; one sister, Mary Lou Benner Silcox and husband Joseph; two sisters-in-law, Nancy L. Strite and Joanna B. Gregory; one brother-in-law, William F. Gregory, Sr. and wife Nancy and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers: Bernard A. Benner, Jr. and Raymond P. Benner and one sister Nannie M. Benner.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00AM at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Bowers and Rev. Scott Summers officiating.

Interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery.
