Obituary for Peggy Lou Gano (Wasson)

Peggy Lou (Wasson) Gano, 74, of Hedgesville went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family at Hospice of the Panhandle on Friday April 20, 2018.

She was the daughter of the late James B. and Lillian Wasson. She graduated from Hedgesville High School, Class of 1961. Peggy actively and proudly served among various organizations in the town of Hedgesville, which she dearly loved. She was a member of the Naylor Library Council, and Hedgesville Town Council. In addition, she also orchestrated Hedgesville Heritage Days and the largest parade held in Hedgesville’s history for the towns 120th anniversary in 1974. Peggy arranged Christmas decorations, supported fundraising efforts for the original lights on the HHS baseball field. In 1998, she was awarded the Hedgesville High School Outstanding Distinguished Service Award and the Outstanding Alumni Award in 2005.

She is survived by four daughters, Rhonda Golden and boyfriend Kyle Triggs; Heather Butts and husband Robert; Carey Gano; and Ashley Miller and husband JD. She had four grandchildren whom she dearly loved, Lillian and Jenna Butts; Kalab Robinson and Qwade Miller. She is survived by three brothers: Alvin “Skeets” Poisal; James “Buddy” Wasson and Randy Wasson; Two sisters: Eileen Young and Sherry Malatt. Peggy was also survived by her best friend Ruth Hill. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Peggy was proceeded in death by her brother William “Bill” Wasson and three sisters, Edna Hite, Judy McVey and Dorothy “Dottie” Kilmer.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 11:00 am at Heritage Hall in Inwood, West Virginia.
