Obituary for Fred Harrison Harris

Fred Harrison  Harris
Fred Harrison Harris, 86, of Martinsburg, went home to be with our Lord Monday, April 16, 2018, while at Berkeley Medical Center.

Born in Charles Town on May 20, 1931, he was the son of the late Catherine Carryer Boltz. He is a 1949 graduate of Martinsburg High School. Following graduation, he went on to serve in the United States Army from August 17, 1949, to June 16, 1952.

He was a Korean War veteran. He retired from DuPont as a millwright on April 30, 1985, after being employed with the company for over 31 years. Being a carpenter by trade, he then went on to perform odd jobs for many families in the local area as a handyman. He was of the Southern Baptist faith and has attended Westview Baptist Church since 2008 where he helped any chance he could caring for the many children, one of his great loves.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jean Maxine Dunn Harris; one daughter, Sheree Lynn Breech, and son-in-law, Jack Dennis Breech; one granddaughter, Amanda Marie Allen, and husband, Joshua Kenneth Allen; one great-grandson, Landon Cohen Allen, and one great-grandchild on the way. He cherished his family tremendously.

Memorial donations can be made in his honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Services and interment are private.
