Obituary for George Anthony "Tony" Wise

George Anthony (Tony) Wise, supervisor at Macy’s Warehouse in Martinsburg, WV, resident of Charles Town, WV, and an active member of the Charles Town Citizens Fire Company, died unexpectedly at the age of 50, on 2 April 2018.
He is survived by his five children, Gemma Ann Melba, Celeste Marie, Zoe Claire, Drew Anthony, and Emmison Grace Wise; his sister, Theresa Anne Kline Graf, and husband Dennis and their children, Bethany Ann Koon, Taylor Morgan and Carly Regina Kline, Lauren and Noelle Graf; his sister-in-law, Jodi Aschwind and her three girls; his domestic partner, Wendi Lynn Wesberry, and her children, Nicholas Owen, Patrick Alexander, Hannah Caitlyn Burgess, and Sarah Grace Steele; his mother, Patricia Ann Manning Connelly and husband, Ralph. Tony was predeceased by his wife, Petina Margaret Wise; his father, George Walter Wise; and his grandparents, Buddy and Edwina Wise.
Tony was born in Philadelphia, PA on 14 September 1967. The son of a Navy father, his early years were spent growing up in exotic duty stations like Morocco, Scotland, and Virginia Beach. After graduating from Kempsville High School in Virginia Beach, VA in 1985, Tony enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he served as a rescue swimmer and underwater welder. He received an honorable discharge after six years. Following the Coast Guard, he relocated to Australia for approximately 17 years to raise his family, and then later relocated back to the United States in 2011.
Tony was a devoted father and firefighter. He forged many strong friendships while enjoying his leisure activities of playing golf, shooting darts, and grilling out with family and friends. His greatest joy came from his service with the Citizens Fire Company. He always looked out for any and everyone. He was truly one of a kind and will be dearly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at The Citizens Fire Company, 245 Citizens Way, Charles Town, WV 25414 at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 11 April 2018. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to the Citizens Fire Company of Charles Town, WV.
