Obituary for Richard Lee Livermore

Richard Lee Livermore, 81, beloved father, grandfather and brother died on Friday, March 2nd in Peoria, Arizona.

He leaves behind his wife Helen, sons Kent (Linda) and Jerrod (Julissa,) daughters Rhonda (Em), Darla (Mark) and Jody(Brendan), treasured grandchildren: Heth (Elizabeth), Colin (Alison), Riley (Katie), Abby (Kevin), Kelsey (Curt), Austin, Jake, Courtney, Dylan, Nicolas, Kylie, Landon and Jackson and great grandchildren Brady and Ashe. He also leaves behind four siblings: brothers Clarence, James and Ron and sister Dolores.

Richard grew up in Shenandoah, IA where he excelled in four sports, earning a football scholarship to the University of Iowa. He served in the Army during the Cold War and then entered a career in education as a high school biology teacher (teaching his three oldest children.) He earned an MA in Education and became a high school principal, retiring from Crete Monee High School in Crete, IL, where his two younger children attended.

Richard epitomized the qualities of servant leadership both in his family and his profession, leading with integrity, kindness and humility. He was unwavering in his support of those he loved, encouraging them to set high goals, be committed, resilient and teachable. Richard was known for his dignity and his faith, passing this on to the generations after him. He was at home whether wrestling on the floor with his grandchildren, canoeing in the Canadian Boundary waters, running a board meeting or speaking in front of hundreds of people.

Visitation is Thursday, March 22 from 6-8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV and the memorial service will be held at Independent Bible Church at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 23rd.
