Country Attire

I first met Howard when we worked together at US News & World Report back in 1998.  He was from the country and very proud of it.  Since I was from rural Pennsylvania, we understood each other.  He was very nice and a great colleague at US News & World Report

One Saturday afternoon, my boyfriend Tommy and I were in Georgetown, Washington DC.  I was giving Tommy a mini tour of US News & World Report and we met Howard, who was showing his wife Judy around the office.   Howard and his wife were very friendly and excited about being in Georgetown, Washington DC.  US New & World Report had just moved their offices there at the beginning of 1999.  Howard was dressed in full country attire – cowboy boots, cowboy hat and a large shinny belt buckle.   Tommy was from Brooklyn, NY and the country attire really shocked him.    He could not stop talking about size of Howard’s belt buckle.

However, country attire on Howard, did not surprise me, since I worked with him.  It suited his personality and like his belt buckle, his personality was very large and bright.  The best part of working at US News & World Report was the great co-workers I had, including Howard.   He was always very helpful and someone I could always rely on.   He will be greatly missed.
