Obituary for James Earl "Jim" Anderson

James “Jim” Earl Anderson, 79 of Ranson passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 4, 2018. Born April 23, 1938 in Charles Town he was the son of the late Jack Anderson and Agnes Boyd Anderson. Jim served in the US Army from 1961 – 1963. He was awarded the medal for expert (Rifle M-14). He retired after 39 years working at the Halltown Paperboard as a mechanic. He loved playing bingo, slot machines and buying powerball tickets. He was an avid Redskins fan.
He is survived by two sons, James Earl “Jimmy” Anderson, Jr. and wife Raychelle of Martinsburg and Christopher “Chris” Anderson of Fairfax, Virginia, two daughters, Monica Anderson of Martinsburg and Michelle “Niky” Anderson of Ranson, loving mother of their children, Donna Denise Burris Anderson, three sisters, Madeline Chrisman and husband Dick and Barbara Anderson, all of Charles Town, Dorothy Burris and husband Jimmy of New Market, Virginia, three grandchildren, Brandon, Alyssa and Sierra Hedgespeth and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins, special niece Kim Weaver Mumaw. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Junior Anderson and sisters, Kathleen Mills and Peggy Weaver.
A memorial service with military honors will be held 1 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2018 at the Jefferson Chapel Funeral Home with the Dr. Henry Christie officiating. Interment will be private.
