Mary O. Ritchey, 98 of Martinsburg WV, passed away peacefully in her home on March 4, 2018. She was born November 1, 1919 in Hagerstown MD to the Late Fred H. and Evelyn (Wilson) Onderdonk. She attended Bunker Hill High School, graduating in 1937 and was awarded Outstanding Alumni Award in May 2007. Mary was a 1939 graduate of Martinsburg Business College. She was employed by Potomac Light and Power Company for 12 years, until 1951 when she married John H. Ritchey who passed away in 1972. She returned to work for Potomac Edison Company, retiring in 1985 after 28 years of service. She was a member and director of the Potomac Edison Fore Runners. She was the oldest living member of the Inwood United Methodist Church, where she was a member for over 75 years. She was very proud to be a life member of the Golden Rule Chapter #69 Order of the Eastern Star having served as Worthy Matron in 1971/1972 and Secretary for the chapter for 35 years. She was also a member of Daughters of the Nile and Martinsburg Lioness Club. She was preceded in death by her brother Fred H. Onderdonk Jr. and his wife Evelyn, Stepson John R. Ritchey, Stepdaughter Evelyn Maiers, and her dear friend, Linda Fries. She is survived by a Grandson Bobby Maiers of Bedford PA, Nephews Larry Onderdonk of Martinsburg, John Onderdonk of PA and Nieces Eileen Gideon and Janice Tobery both of Frederick MD. & many Great Nieces and Nephews. She will be missed by friends Doug & Lisa Fries, Bob & Sandy Cross, Peggy Wilson and many others whose lives she touched.
Family will receive friends on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 12:30PM to 1:30PM with the funeral service immediately following with Pastor Charles Henry officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery
