Helen Lee Wingfield Clemons, 96 of Martinsburg, WV passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2018 at Berkeley Medical Center.

Helen was born on January 19, 1922 in Gore, Virginia. She was the daughter of Emma Scott Bennett Wingfield and Harry Fenton Wingfield. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Stanley "Red" Clemons. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Eloise Albright, and Goldie Frith and two brothers, Lester Keckley and Stanley Keckley.

Helen is survived by her five children: Larry Clemons (wife Judy); Peggy Aikens, Donna Sparger (husband Roger), Gloria J Clemons Noud-Seale (husband JR) and Stanley Clemons Jr (wife Mary), 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family.

Helen had an unwavering faith in God and was a lifelong member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

Helen was a consummate mother and homemaker and an excellent cook, who enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. Over the years she collected a large library of cookbooks and also loved to watch food and cooking channels. She was also very active in her life and when she wasn’t cooking or baking, she enjoyed sewing and spending time with her friends and family. Helen retired from the Berkley County School System after working for many years at various school cafeteria’s.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Berkeley County Medical Center, particularly those on the 5th and 6th floors, who showed great care and compassion while caring for Helen.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM and 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11:00AM at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Mooney officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
