Obituary for Shirley Irene Carson (Reid)

Shirley Irene Reid Carson, 83 of Ranson passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born August 19, 1934 in Marlowe, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Earl Francis Reid, Sr. and Anna Amelia Treese Reid. She was a member of the Zion Episcopal Church. Shirley worked for the New Central Restaurant for over twenty years and the Jefferson County Assessor’s office for over twenty years.

She is survived by one son, Earl “Nick” Carson, Sr., daughter, Sheila “Lynn” Penwell both of Ranson, two sisters, Anna Louise Reid of Hampton, Virginia and Bernadine Mae Fouch of Hedgesville, two grandchildren, Lindsay Carson and Earl N. Carson, Jr., two great grandchildren, Ava and Evan Carson.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death on January 25, 2018 by her husband of 67 years, Wilmot G. “Tommy” Carson, brothers, Bruce Reid and Earl Francis Reid, Jr. and grandson, Derek M. Carson

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Brown Funeral Home with the Dr. Henry Christie officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends 3:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday.

In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
