Obituary for Melvin Leroy "Pete" Masters Sr.

Melvin L. “Pete” Masters, Sr., 82, of Martinsburg passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Pete was born August 30, 1935, to the late Evaline V. (Whitacre) Masters and Harry A. Masters. He was a member of the Musselman High School Class of 1953. Pete was married to Jane A. Good on October 5, 1957. Pete was a very beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to so many people. He is survived by his children Melvin L. “Rusty” Masters, Jr. of Richmond, VA, Susan L. Lewis and husband Michael Lewis of Martinsburg, Brian C. Masters of Lititz, PA, and Mary Beth Masters of Martinsburg. In addition, he had four adoring grandchildren: Emily Carper and husband Dave Carper of Martinsburg, Victoria Masters of Richmond, VA, Adam Lewis of Martinsburg, and Chloe Masters of Lititz, PA along with one great-grandson, Camden Carper of Martinsburg and a sister, Sylvia Haas, of Milton, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Good Masters. Pete was a retiree of Corning Glass Works and a 50+ year member of the Triluminar Lodge #117 A.F. & A.M. After retirement, Pete kept himself occupied with his Hereford cattle farm, creating masterpieces of jury rigged engineering, and helping friends whenever he could. The family will receive friends at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel, 287 Arden Nollville Road, Inwood on Saturday, February 10, 2018, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at 8:00 PM.
