Obituary for Cecil Andrew Miller
Cecil Andrew Miller, 74, of Whitacre, VA passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at the Winchester Medical Center.
Born June 12, 1943 in Berkeley County, WV he was the son of the late Cecil Edgar Miller and Ruth Norris Miller.
He was a member of the Hedgesville Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Hedgesville High School class of 1961. Where he went on to work at the North Mountain Clay Company before going on to Wheeling Barber College where he graduated in 1966. He was a well-known barber having worked at Berkeley Plaza Barber Shop, Clover Leaf Barber Shop, and retired in 2004 from the VA Medical Center Barber Shop.
He was owner and operator of C.A. Miller Orchard and employed with Shanghai Grocery. He was a volunteer umpire for 30 years with the area Little League baseball.
Cecil was a life-long hunter and outdoorsman; and a member of The Sugar Shack Hunting Club. He loved the gardening and canning season.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ida Beth Burkhart Miller; one son, Jeffrey Andrew Miller; two grandchildren, Garrett and Ciara Miller; one brother, Gilbert D. Miller; three sisters, F. Kathleen Fowlkes, Ruth A. Donaldson, and Sharon L. Ring; and numerous nieces and nephews. Including long time family friends, Mike and Marika Ailsworth and daughters; and Vance, Lisa, Hunter, and Carrie Miller.
He was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Alexis Beth and Alexea Rose Miller; three brothers, Charles E. Miller, Robert L. Miller, and Harry J. Miller; one sister, Evelyn M. Sine.
Family will receive friends on Monday, February 5, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor William “Billy” Moore officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Cecil’s name to the Back Creek Valley Full Gospel Church, 131 Noman Silver Drive, Hedgesville, WV 25427.
