Obituary for Harry Bruce Grove
Harry Bruce Grove, 95, of Martinsburg went to be with his loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, January 22, 2018.
Born August 31, 1922 in Shanghai, WV, he was the son of the late Charles Wesley and Anna Bayer Grove.
Harry was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished spending time with his loved ones, friends and Church family. Harry strongly believed that God was his co-pilot that guided his path throughout his life.
He was a member of the Vanville Church of Christ where he was a long standing elder and treasurer.
Many families in the tri-county area may remember Harry for his many tireless years of repair service for the Burkhart Oil Company. He was very proud of being a member of the 57mm Cap group of Kemp and Company that contributed to the war effort during World War II. He was also a fifty plus year member of the United Commercial Travelers.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Rosalie Brough Grove; three sons, Michael Charles Grove and wife Amy of Hedgesville, James Bruce Grove and wife Lori of Martinsburg, David Andrew Grove and wife Dawn of Martinsburg, and daughter Harriet Elizabeth Maphis and husband Ricky of Martinsburg; nine grandchildren, Cara, Aaron, Eric, Hayle, Morgan, Drew, Dawson, Jud and Whitney; and six great-grandchildren, Devin, Aaliyah, Kaylee, Casanova, Jonathan and Paige.
He was the last of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Carl Grove, Lewis Grove, Genevieve “Bebe” Gain, Mary DeHaven, Grace Bly and Virginia “Ginnie” Jones.
Family will receive friends and family, January 26, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Vanville Church of Christ with Pastor Dan Nicksich officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Vanville Church of Christ, 11 Classic Vanville Road, Martinsburg, WV 25405, to fulfill Harry’s goal of paying off the land debt.
