Grafton McKinely "Sonny" Apple, 75, of Martinsburg passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018 at Hagerstown Healthcare Center.
Born October 26, 1942 in Cherry Run, WV he was the son of the late Durward "Bub" and Mary E. Starliper Apple.
Sonny worked as a driver for Schmidt's Baking Co., Stroehman Baking Co., and retired from Avis Rent A. Center as a lead driver, driving training coordinator, and CDL trainer. Sonny gave his life back to the Lord on June 8, 2014 and was baptized by Pastor Ben Murray and was assisted by his wife, Darlene Murray.
One of Sonny's favorite pastimes were joking and teasing people. He has teased his wife Mary K. since January 1962.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bub and Mary Apple; and adopted sister, Marna.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary K. McDaniel Apple; two sons, Grafton "Kent" M. Apple, Jr. of Aberdeen, MD and Earl G. Apple and wife, Karen (like a daughter) of Martinsburg; four grandchildren, Chasity E. Apple of Aberdeen, MD, Brandon M. Apple of Aberdeen, MD, Christopher E. Apple and wife Leslie of MA and Derek A. Apple and wife, Bryn of Winchester, VA; three great-grandchildren, Chasity E II, Kent, Tommy of Aberdeen, MD and one on the way ; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rodney and Brenda McDaniel.
Sonny has asked those who come to see him off for his journey home to Heaven please wear bright color clothes. He doesn't want anyone to be sad, he has been looking forward to this journey. When he gets home nor more hurting and he will be able to walk again, he will meet the Lord and a lot of his friends.
Sonny is Heaven Bound.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 2:00PM with Pastor Dr. Carroll Williams officiating at Maplewood Baptist Church, 1029 Lost Road, Martinsburg, WV.
