Obituary for Gloria Jean Meredith (Roper)

Gloria Jean Roper Meredith, 77 of Charles Town passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at her home. Born July 14, 1940 in Ranson she was the daughter of the late Howard Mummert Roper and Marie Elizabeth Landers Roper. She was a member of the Crum United Methodist Church. She was a beautician at the Washington Beauty Salon and worked in accounting for the Lansdowne Conference Center, a member of the Charles Town Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 948, VFW Post 3522, American Legion Post 71 and Sisters of Pythias.
She is survived by one son, Robert Joseph Smallwood of Charles Town, brother David Roper and companion Horacio of New York, sisters, Nancy Kercheval and husband Bill of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and Ellen McDonough and husband Bill of Ranson, sister in-law Barbara “Bobbi” Roper grandchildren, Jason Turner and wife Jessica, McKenzie Turner, Lauren Fowler, Alexis Schrantz, Michelle Smoot, Jessica Turner Wenger and husband Nick, Corri Lee Smallwood, step grandchildren, Kyle and Matt Tennant, five great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by son, Phillip Wayne Turner and brother, Steve Roper. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:30 am, Saturday, May 26, 2018, at the Crum UM Church, 2832 Crum Church Rd., Berryville, VA, 22611, with the Rev. Thomas Barnard officiating. The family request donations be made to, Crum United Methodist Church, 2832 Crum Church Road, Berryville, Virginia 22611.
