Obituary for Harold Glenn Davis

Harold Glenn Davis, 86, of Martinsburg, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 in the V A Medical Center Community Living Center. Born December 11, 1930 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois he was the son of the late Gerald Joseph Davis and Neva Blankenship Davis. He earned a BA in Criminal Justice from George Mason University. Glenn was a decorated veteran serving our country for over 20 years in the US Navy, Marine Corps, and the Army, before retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. He later joined the U S Capitol Police, rising to the rank of Sergeant. After moving back to Illinois he pursued emergency response work as a paramedic. He loved working with his hands, sketching and drawing, gardening, and raising beautiful flowers.

He is survived by his first wife, Dorothy Jeanne Davis, and their three children, Michael Davis (and wife, Patricia,) of Ranson, West Virginia, Kathryn McCormick (and husband, Robert,) of Manassas, Virginia, and Robert Davis of Seattle, Washington. His surviving stepchildren are Pam Kennedy, Cindy Poston, and David Poston, all of Mt. Vernon, Illinois. In addition to his 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, he has one surviving sister, Rowena Fornear, of Decatur, Illinois. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, D’Etta Heard, and his second wife, Charlotte Poston Davis, the mother of his stepchildren.

Services and interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
