Obituary for Eugene Hedrick "Gene" Spinks, Sr.

Eugene “Gene” Hedrick Spinks, Sr., 75 of Ranson passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 in the Oakview Rehabilitation and Nursing, Silver Springs, Maryland. Born April 15, 1942 in Leesburg, Virginia he was the son of the late Berkley Cleatus Spinks and Edna Virginia Kent Spinks. He was a painter, had his own business. He was a loving husband, father and brother. He loved painting and being outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Rankin Spinks, at home, three sons, Ricky Spinks of Ranson, Richard Spinks of Charles Town and Gene Spinks, Jr. of Ranson, two daughters, Mary Louise Lake and husband Rickey of Inwood and Cindy Ann Spinks of Martinsburg, one brother, Roger L. Spinks and wife Ann of Dalton, Georgia, five sisters, Kathy Fraley and husband David of Kearneysville, Linda Cleary and husband Robert of Chatsworth, Georgia, Joyce Elliott and husband Charles of Summit Point, Diane Ellard and husband Tommy of Dalton, Georgia and Sharon Rankin of Martinsburg, five grandchildren, Angel Ann Campbell, Emily Rena Spinks, Melissa Orgon and husband Max, Ashley Martin and Rickey Lake, three great grandchildren, Jada and Jennifer Townsend and Jessica Otey, one great great-granddaughter, Adalin Otey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Roy C. Spinks, brother in-law, Carl Rankin and granddaughter Tina L. Lake.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Henry officiating. Interment will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Martinsburg, WV. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
