Obituary for Mary Catherine Shupp (Wilkins)

Mary Catherine Shupp, 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2017.

Born January 15, 1935 in Baker, WV she was the daughter of the late Ernest Emery Wilkins and Charlotte Mae Bradfield Wilkins. She was a 1953 graduate of Mathias High School and a 1956 graduate of City Hospital's School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She worked as a surgical nurse for the first three years and spent the next forty years as an OB nurse helping to bring many new lives into the world. She retired in 2000.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Martinsburg for more than fifty years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Clyde J. Shupp; and three sisters, Wilda Miller, Janet Wilkins, and Annabelle Wilkins.

She is survived by one daughter, Alison Fletcher and husband, Woody of Martinsburg; three granddaughters, Sara Alderton (Shawn), Lauren Wilson (Hunter) of Martinsburg, Janelle Madison (JR) of Mineral, Virginia; one grandson, Craig Poisal, Jr. (CJ) of Martinsburg; one great-grandson, Jaylen Poisal; and four great-granddaughters, Jenna and Kendall Alderton, and Kaitlyn and Leah Madison.

Family will receive friends on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00AM at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Ken Walker officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to service on Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude for those who gave her loving care over the past few years.
