Obituary for Boyd Franklin Triggs Jr.

Boyd Franklin Triggs, Jr., born in Martinsburg, WV, June 12, 1928, passed away at home surrounded by family under hospice care on October 6, 2017.
Son of Boyd Franklin Triggs and Mildred Marie Donavan Triggs.
He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School (June 1946), a Veteran of the United States Army as a PVT-E-2. At Fort Sam Houston he received medical training and served in Neuro/Surgery with the 28th General Hospital with an honorable discharge.
In his working career he worked for the Interwoven Mills as a production expeditor, then supervisor, then tech in the Engineer Department until 1970. A supervisor for AMF Lawn Mower Mfg. Then retiring from Corning Glass Works with 21 years of service in 1993.
He enjoyed coaching church league baseball, little league football inspiring many lives. He loved participating on several bowing leagues.
Boyd was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, past president of Sunday school classes, teacher of the Hott Memorial Men's Sunday School Classes and had served on the Administrative Council Board, lead services at the Rescue Mission.
He loved nature, animals, children, and was proud of his family.
In retirement he enjoyed gardening and riding his John Deere tractor, watching the Redskins and WVU football whether they were winning or losing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Nellie Virginia (Schoppert) Triggs, son, Doug Triggs, sisters, Lola Keller, Sharon Caton, and grandson Arthur Hairston, Jr.
He is survived by four children; Beverly Bivens of Gerrardstown, Roxane Ulrich (Carl) of PA, Robin Johnson of Martinsburg, Vickie Whittington of Inwood, one brother, Wayne Triggs of Martinsburg; six grandchildren, Roger Lee Whittington, Jr. (Kristina) of PA, Travis Whittington (Ethel) of PA, Amanda Roberts (Jason) of Martinsburg, Erin Whittington of Martinsburg, Tristan Weaverling (Stephanie) of Gerrardstown, and Dameon Hairston (Stephainie) of Martinsburg; eleven great grandchildren, Arthur III, Artrell, Alyza, Deaira, and Phoenix Hairston, Hunter and Summer Weaverling, Isaiah, and Isaac Roberts, Ethan and Willow Paige Whittington.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Cantley officiating. Interment will be held in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 700 New York Avenue, Martinsburg, WV 25401, Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430, or to the charity of one's choice.
