Obituary for Joseph Thomas Gasper

Joseph T. Gasper, 97, of Martinsburg, WV, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at The Willows at Meadow Branch in Winchester, VA.

Born March 8, 1920 in Williamsburg, PA, he was the son of the late George and Katherine Bodnar Gasper.

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from the VA Medical Center.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church; the Knights of Columbus, Martinsburg Council # 1169; the Elks Lodge # 778; the AARP; and NARFE.

He is survived by his three sons, Michael J. Gasper of Buckhannon, WV, Randall P. Gasper of Luray, VA, and Patrick J. Gasper of Inwood; four daughters, Sandra L. Massey of Winchester, VA, Mary Ann Baugher of Elkton, VA, Kathryn J. Zier of Martinsburg and Susan J. Muir of Woodstock, VA; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Frances Zombro Gasper; and twelve brothers and sisters.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 8:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. George Pucciarelli and Rev. Thomas Gallagher celebrants. Interment prayers will be said at Rosedale Cemetery with military graveside rites.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to your favorite charity.
