Obituary for Philip Wayne Steorts

Philip Wayne Steorts, 80 of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in Martinsburg, WV.

Born January 9, 1937 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Dorothy Steorts.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps.

He had previously worked as a coal miner at Cannelton Coal Company; a Deputy Sheriff in Jefferson County, WV Conservation Officer for 25 years; and a Federal Police Officer with the Marshall Service.

He had been a member of the Lions Club, a member of the Coal Valley Masonic Lodge #74 AF and AM in Montgomery, WV, Federal Order of Police, and the Marine Corp League Detachment #1143.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Lee (Siemiaczko) Steorts; two daughters, Sherri Dillard and husband, Kevin, of North Carolina and Shannon Weber and husband, Brian, of Gerrardstown; four grandchildren, Sean Dillard, Caitlin Foster-Freeman, Kayla and Addalyn Weber; and; and sister, Judy Davis of Florida.

Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 3:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood. Family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM prior to service at the chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Martinsburg Fire Department or West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, Law Enforcement Section, 324 Fourth Avenue, South Charleston, WV 25303-1228.
