Obituary for William Hunter "Bud" Donaldson

William Hunter (Bud) Donaldson, 76, passed away on Monday, August 7 at City Hospital.

He was born on January 4, 1941 to the late Calvin Leslie and Elsie L. Donaldson.

He was a lifetime member of the Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Department for 59 years; where he held numerous offices, including Fire Chief. He was a member of Hedgesville Lion's Club. He was a member of the Hedgesville United Methodist Church and attended Hedgesville Presbyterian Church.

He retired as superintendant of the WV Department of Highway, in Berkeley County, after 32 years service. Prior to that was employed as an agent for People's Life Insurance Company.

Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Ruth Miller Donaldson; three daughters, Kimberly Rhoe (Greg); of Hedgesville; Cecilia Kilmer (Nevin), of Hedgesville and Holly Sutherland, of Martinsburg; six grandchildren, Glen Kilmer, Mindy Wilmer, Scott Rhoe, Amy Rhoe, Tyler Sutherland, and Kristin Sutherland; and nine great-grandchildren, Austin, Javin, Davonte, Kaiden, Sydnee, Raleigh, Georgia, Victoria, and Wyatt; one brother, Calvin Donaldson (Jackie), of Myrtle Beach, SC; one sister, Judy Golden, (Tom), of Darby, MT; and number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, Cecil and Ruth Miller.

Receiving of friends will be on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11:00AM at the funeral home with Rev. Carl Howard officiating. Interment will be in Hedgesville Cemetery with a reception following at the Hedgesville Volunteer Fire Department.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hedgesville Presbyterian Church, PO Box 18, Hedgesville, WV 25427.
