Obituary for Raymond Edward Dearing

Raymond Edward Dearing, 74, of Martinsburg passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the Winchester Medical Center.

Born October 29, 1942 in Berkeley County, WV he is the son of the late Claude "Kayo" Dearing and Loma Knipple Dearing.

After graduating from Martinsburg High School, Class of 1960, he served in the US Army as a military policeman.

He was an avid sportsman, as well as a champion marksman and horseshoe pitcher. Always a hot rod enthusiast, he was an expert engine builder and built numerous custom and high performance automobiles. He was a life member of the Jefferson County Izaak Walton League of America, along with numerous other sporting and outdoor organizations.

He is survived by two sons, Dennis Gene Dearing and Daniel Wayne Dearing; one daughter, Debra S. Boswell; two grandsons, Richard Maxwell Boswell IV and Tyler Michael Boswell; one granddaughter Samantha Nicole Bennett; two nephews, Tony and Craig Dearing; and devoted friends, Larry Emery, Brian McMellen, and Donivan Lance.

He was preceded in death by brother, William L. " Pat" Dearing; and long-time loving companion, Dorothy M. Anderson and their three cherished cats, Tom, Jerry, and Buffy.

Graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at 11:00AM at Pleasant View Memory Gardens with Pastor Craig Dearing officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Berkeley County Humane Society at 554 Charles Town Rd Martinsburg, WV 25405 or St. Jude Children's Hospital at 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
