Obituary for Ulis Simpson Johnson

Ulis Simpson Johnson, 84 of Summit Point passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in the Hospice Inpatient Facility. Born March 21, 1933 in Richlands, WV he was the son of the late Kenous Elmer Johnson and Effie Florence Armentrout. He was of the Methodist faith, served in the U S Army and he retired from the dietetic service at the V A Medical Center. He loved hunting and playing music with his guitar and banjo. He is survived by his wife, Bernice Cline at home, one son, Donnie Johnson and wife Tammy of Summit Point, one grandson, Aaron Johnson and great grandchild, Alana Johnson; six brothers, Elmer Johnson of North Carolina, Alfred, Douglas and Frank Johnson all of Augusta, West Virginia, Sidney Johnson of Amnesville, Virginia and Larue Johnson of Comas, Maryland, two sisters, Helen Meksvanh of Gaithersburg, Maryland and Nancy Mills of Urbana, Maryland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife, Zeneth Marie Rudolph Johnson, daughter, Susan Faith Johnson and seven brothers and seven sisters, Luther, Richard, Ruth and Eva Johnson, Martha and Mary Hansen, Beulah Whetzel, Forest Johnson and William and James Armentrout, Rosie Ingram and Phyllis Hughes, Bill and Charlie Huffmans, . Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Brown Funeral Homes South Berkeley Chapel with the Pastor Jim Holt and Reverend John Lewis officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant View Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Summit Point Baptist Church, 96 Hawthorne Ave., Summit Point, WV 25446 or to Summit Point Memorial United Methodist Church, 46 Steptoe St., Summit Point, WV 25446.
